Leave Yourself an Out
Leave Yourself an Out
Prepare yourself mentally to succeed. I don’t mean that you get up every morning and do 100 sit ups (although that’s not a bad idea) or that you have to be so regimented that it takes all the fun out of life. Learn to understand yourself. What makes you behave the way you do. What behaviors provide positive reinforcements and which ones provide negative reinforcements.
If you like banana splits, you’ll probably want one sooner or later. That’s ok. Just remember that there are trade offs. You need to leave yourself an out. An out in this case would be exercise, eat something light for dinner, read an article on nutrition and apply what you have learned. It is not about beating yourself up or depriving yourself. It’s about understanding your body and thoughts.
To put it simply, society has changed the game. (and it tends to slam dunk right into your face). Our food is so ready available and convenient. Not so long ago a person had to work so much harder for the food that they consumed. Not to say that most of us don’t work hard, but it’s different in caloric use versus intake. It took so long to hunt, gather, fix, preserve, and prepare, that the process would take most of the day.
There were no fridges, no baggies, no Tupperware and no electric ovens.
Have you ever use a wood burning stove? They use to burn wood to cook the food. I turned a knob off and on last time I used my stove.
Give and take- Give and take. You own those calories that you put into your body. You can either spend them or store them. Every time you eat something that mainly appeals to your taste buds, think of cranking up that wood burning stove to cook your morning biscuits.
Understand and empower yourself to deal with modern day life in a positive way. Own those calories don’t let them own you. Look them straight in the eye and kick their can. Know that you aren’t alone so many of us face issues everyday. Don’t blame yourself while at the same time understanding what is happening.
Leave yourself an out. Create a lifestyle that appeals to your health both mentally and physically. Eat foods that are healthy and natural. Get the most bang for your efforts.

We've Changed But Our Processes Haven't
Not so long ago our for bearers spent a lot more time and effort into acquiring their food. They hunted it, killed it (hopefully), cut it up and then somehow preserved it. Can you imagine life without a fridge? I leave things in there for years. Just kidding. So much effort would be placed into finding food, preparing food, and preserving it somehow that hundreds of calories would be used in the process.
To clarify, our food is just to easy to get. A lot of it is already processed. Throw it in the microwave and presto. The whole equation is changed. Intake - metabolized - turned into more you (fat). I am amazed at what you can find in the store these days. The isles are full of stuff. What is good for you and what isn't?
Sure there's labels on the food, but are they really that affective. I say no- because I can still get Twinkies.
Some of the foods are processed to a point that even are bodies don't have to work as hard to digest them. Flour is a good example of this. Can yo imagine chewing wheat and then letting your stomach have a go at it. First you would have to use a stone just to grind it so that yo could eat it everyday.
The system is stacked against us. More available food, less effort into processing eat, less time it takes for the body to digest it. You know how you can gorge yourself and Chinese food and feel hunger two hours later. Well , the faster food goes thru you the more yo want to eat.
How often do you think our ancestors came across a field of sugar cane? No to often would be my guess. The processed sugar that goes into one soda pop is probably more that they would see in a lifetime.
That is why diets are a way of circular thinking. the choices that a person makes and the food they eat determines whether you gain wait or not. It is simple- you have to burn as many calories as you take in to maintain your existing weight.
That is why it is important to make the right choices to life a healthy lifestyle.
Start on the path to a healthy lifestyle. Take the intestinal fortitude and make the smart choices. The acai berry is full of good stuff. Just check it out.

Society and The Choices We Make Lifestyle Versus Diet Effective Weight Loss Better Than Fast Weight Loss
Diet Versus Lifestyle Effective Weight Loss Versus Fast Weight Loss
Let me see there's the starvation diet, the low carb diet, the high protien diet, the vegetarian diet, and my favorite the try it diet. How many different diets do you know of?
I prefer the word Lifestyle. There are many factors that contribute to weight gain. As a working parent of two I know how hectic life can get. (Pizza is good and so easy to order). Or I really don't have time to cook so I'll just get some fast food on the way home. As a society we might not always make the best choices for ourselves and our families. Why do I lump everyone in there? (not exactly everyone but you know who you are). If we didn't make those kinds of decisions there wouldn't be as many fast food places and other contributors to our waistlines, if you catch my drift.
It seems that all I got from the holidays was a spare tire. A lot of us are looking for ways to slim down and shape up. It might be the newest diet, the newest work out video, or even the celebrity that reminds us of the eighties. Furthermore, seasonal variations can affect our health and lifestyles. For me it's winter. I consider myself active. I cultivate a garden, mow a huge lawn, take care of a horse, and other activities. However, the winter is a different story. -I watch the icicles grow on the rain gutters.
I have encountered many frustrations with diets. That's why I sometimes refer to them as di-by-ets. For instance, food cravings, weight fluctuations, expense, and sometimes they're just to hard. Moreover, when I reach my goals and and go off my diet, I find myself going back to the way I was before or even worse. I feel like a yo-yo. I wonder about the nature of our diets. Do the institutions that back them want us to get healthy and stay that way? Or do they just want us to stay on the roller coaster and join the bandwagon for the next craze to come along? Speaking for myself I want to get off that ride.
That's why I have made a decision to make a lifestyle change. I prefer to eat healthier and make better choices. You might say, "make it a habit". Whether you prefer the term diet or to make it a lifestyle check out that Brazilian berry. Go to
